Situation normal (for a Sunday)

Well for once since all this has happened Sunday was back to normal for me.  At least the normal I’m accustomed to, only involves my daughter now and that’s more than fine with me these days, but for once I never felt like a chicken running around with his head cut off.  Fell asleep early again last night (last week really did zap me) and was up and at’em at the bright and early time of six a.m.  It was smoked pork butt for dinner tonight so I got that going on the smoker and then checked on my daughter, she was still snoozing, so I sat down in the recliner and decided to catch up on some TV, that lasted for about 45 minutes before I dozed back off and woke up at 8:00 a.m.  Daughter was still asleep then, finished the TV show and then she woke up.  Just wanted her new favorite breakfast of honey nut cheerios and reading her books.  I pretty much pleaded with her to let me cook her something but she was having none of it.  No big deal, I got some cleaning done, kept checking on my pork butt, did some reading online and jumped in the shower.  Got the daughter ready after that and we were out the door to run some errands.

She wanted some lemon poppy seed muffins for dinner tonight and to take in her lunch to school tomorrow so we had to head to the store and get a couple of ingredients, rode by the old house to check the mail and then my buddy asked me if I could run some stuff up to his house that he didn’t have time to get from the auction yesterday.  He’s helped me out in more ways than I can count, so it wasn’t an issue for us to make the short drive to his place and drop off some items.  His wife was more than hospitable with my daughter and took her around and showed her all the cats they have, and my buddy and I unloaded all the gear.  Once we got home from there we proceeded to make the muffins and I pretty much let her do about 75% of the work including running the hand mixer, sifted the flour, did pretty much everything but doing the measuring.  Even let her pour the batter in the muffin tins.  They turned out great and she was ready to pass them out to her friend, but they weren’t home so we settled on our old neighbor and ran her over some.  In the mean time she wanted to know if grandma could come over for dinner so she called her and mom was more than willing to come over for dinner tonight.  So my mom and grandma came over for dinner and it was some delicious smoked pork butt, baked beans, grilled corn on the cob, and from scratch lemon poppy seed muffins.  Good day all around, actually making dinner and dessert for a purpose was nice for once.  Kind of like it used to be for me.  Think on Sunday’s I have my daughter we are going to try and invite somebody over for dinner that night.  It’s what I’m used to and it is what she is used to.  Only thing I’m missing is the TV in the kitchen to watch football while I’m cooking but my kitchen is close enough to the TV room now it’s not the end of the world.

After dinner it was a worn out bike ride to school and back and then some body got very whiny towards bedtime.  Action packed weekend finally caught up to her, but that’s o.k. she’s seven and these things are going to happen.  Really about it for the day, the Reds did have their first 20 game winner today in over 25 years in yet another disappointing season, but other than that it’s back to the daily grind at work tomorrow.  Maybe it will rain for a day or two and get things reset at work for a bit, if not I’ll just grind along like I have been.
